The Ford Puma Gen-E has surged to the top of Carwow’s new-vehicle rankings, after becoming one of just two models currently eligible for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG).
Carwow says the all-electric Puma is now “one of the most affordable electric models in its category” at £27,045 on-the-road before further incentives – a price point with clear implications for motor finance affordability calculations.

Demand for battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) under the ECG threshold is accelerating sharply. According to Carwow, “enquiries for models under the £37,000 threshold have risen 53%” in the past four weeks compared with the previous period, while interest in higher-priced BEVs rose by 11%. The platform notes that OEM discounts layered on top of the grant are helping stimulate demand across the board.
The JAECOO 7 currently occupies second place in Carwow’s most-enquired-about chart, followed by the Hyundai Tucson – which has remained in the top five since the start of the year. Overall, Carwow says it has delivered “15% more enquiries to retail partners” in the first eight months of 2025 compared with the same period in 2024.
Philipp Sayler von Amende, Carwow’s Global Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted how the ECG has reshaped buyer behaviour. He said “there has been a notable increase in BEV configurations and enquiries” versus other powertrains since the grant was introduced. He added that September marked the first time EV configurations reached parity with petrol at 34% of total configurations, “the biggest movement we’ve seen in a long while” in Carwow’s charts.
For dealer partners and finance providers, the data signals a live opportunity. Carwow says those who “maximise exposure on our platform” can expect higher volumes of in-market buyers and stronger BEV conversion rates.
