Geotab Inc. and health and wellness provider Vitality have announced a joint venture aimed at improving driver safety and well-being across fleet operations, according to a press release.

The new initiative, called Geotab Vitality, brings together Geotab’s connected vehicle technology and predictive collision risk analytics with Vitality’s behavioural science and global driver status model. The companies said the platform is designed to support driver behaviour change and road safety through incentives, rather than penalties.

Launching first in the UK as a beta programme, Geotab Vitality allows drivers to earn points for safe driving and receive rewards for meeting personalised weekly goals. The platform uses Geotab’s AI-powered benchmarking tools alongside Vitality’s risk rating system, which compares drivers to similar peers based on a range of safety indicators.

According to the press release, the programme represents “a new approach” in fleet safety management by focusing on driver recognition and positive reinforcement. Edward Kulperger, Geotab’s Senior Vice President for EMEA, said: “This joint venture unites two purpose-driven leaders in their field to uniquely address the human side of fleet management.”

Kulperger noted that 67% of van and lorry drivers in the UK express support for new technologies that improve driving performance, adding that the programme could provide drivers with personalised insights and rewards, and help fleets “cultivate a culture of recognition.”

Francois Theron, Deputy CEO of Vitality Drive International, said the initiative aims to benefit multiple stakeholders. “Our joint venture with Geotab embodies shared value—creating safer roads for clients, lowering costs for businesses and fleets, and rewarding drivers who drive well,” he said.

The programme builds on Vitality’s existing experience in behaviour change models, including its own Vitality Drive insurance programme, which has seen members record 55% fewer claims than national averages. Combined with Geotab’s telematics network, which covers over 4.7 million vehicles, the joint venture aims to address road safety challenges across the UK and EU markets.

Geotab Vitality is currently integrated into the MyGeotab platform, with plans to extend access through Geotab Drive later this year. The beta programme is available in all EU and UK countries where Geotab currently operates.

“This is just the first step,” Kulperger added, highlighting potential future collaboration with Vitality in areas such as sustainability, efficiency, and vehicle maintenance.
