Pontin said: "Sometimes, everything comes together for a car maker and they find themselves with not just an excellent range of cars but a kind of aura to almost everything they do. These are the brands that discerning private and fleet motorists want to drive and switched on traders want to buy and sell."
Jaguar Land Rover has grown a great deal internationally in recent years, thanks to the brands appeal in emerging markets such as China. Pontin specifically highlights the Jaguar XE as making a huge difference to the way the public perceives the British manufacturer.
As a brand, Skoda has becoming increasingly popular over the past decade, and in 2014 achieved a 3% market share in the UK, according to The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) figures. Pontin said: "There are now several fantastic Skoda products that are drawing considerable interest from all areas of the market. The brand has now built for itself an almost unique market position – something that you might call value premium. You get nearly all of the quality of a Volkswagen or an Audi at a fraction of the cost."
Honda was one of the few volume manufacturers to see sales fall in 2014, according to the SMMT, however Pontin said the brand was set for a complete reinvention in 2015. Specifically Honda is due to launch a new model range which Glass’s expect to be popular.
