Respondents said the eco-friendly proportion of their fleets would increase by 42% over the next five years, reflecting the fact that 42% listed environmental friendliness as a top three reason for choosing models.

In order to consider changing their organisation’s entire fleet to eco-friendly models, respondents said they would need to see an average saving on fuel of £483 per car per year.

The report also found that only 41% of those who had installed telematics reported reduced fuel costs.

John Hargreaves, head of fleet and remarketing at Kia Motors UK, said: "What our research clearly shows us is that while cost efficiency is high on the fleet manager’s agenda, it might not always be the deciding factor when choosing cars for their fleet.

The research was carried out in August 2015, involving 150 fleet managers and 300 fleet drivers.
