With the coming of self driving cars in as few as 3 years, the UK division of lease management company LeasePlan, predicts that drivers will be able to subscribe to a ‘cloud’ of driverless cars within just a few years more.
LeasePlan believes the advent of driverless cars will create a "huge shift" in the way drivers use their cars as the increased connectivity will allows cars vehicles to operate independently of their owners.

The prediction comes in a white paper published by the company called "the Future of Mobility." which went on to make other predictions for the future of car ownership and driving.
Among those was a world with columns of connected vehicles following professional drivers on motorways, cars that would be able to come at an owners request and more time for drivers to perform activities while in the car.
The paper also looked into the future of alternatively fuelled vehicles and predicted an exponential rise in the sale of electric vehicles, in part encouraged by greater green tax levies, which will force people into more efficient vehicles.
Emerging markets will gain more importance to manufacturers as their spending power increases. At the same time those manufacturers production costs will be reduced to a level where more personalised and niche vehicles will be possible.
