After that they will move to their standardised pricing structure of £2.99 for 4,999 checks of below, £2.49 for between 5,000 and 9,999, £1.99 for £10,000 to 49,999 and 99p for more than 50,000.
Robert Diamond, managing director of motoring services at the RAC, said the check used the same data sources as other provenance checks and offers the same specification. A key differentiator, he said, was a lower price.
The check is backed up with £10,000 insurance and an independent mileage adjusted valuation, which can be upgraded to a Glass’s valuation for an additional cost.
Speaking to Motor Finance in February, Diamond said the RAC was targeting 5% market share by the end of 2016, with a view to doubling that in 2017.

It will provide RAC with full provenance and valuation data for motor trade, vehicle breakdown and insurance customers.
