Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM UK have appointed a partner in a bid to strengthen its national automotive practice.
Mark Morton joins RSM with extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of employment taxes, overseas assignment issues and employee reward matters. Immediately prior to joining RSM he was an employer solutions director at Grant Thornton from 2015. He has also worked as a tax director at EY from 2007-2015, and as a tax manager at PwC from 2001-2007

In his new role, Mark will work alongside RSM’s head of automotive Alison Ashley to deliver sector specific tax advice to motor manufacturers, dealerships and organisations.
Ashley joined two years ago, bringing two decades’ worth of experience to the company, including 12 years at PwC. At the time, she said she would focus on firms restructuring in the automotive sector.
Ashley said: “Mark’s appointment further strengthens our automotive offering as we continue to expand our national capability and expertise. Drawing on a wealth of experience, Mark will support the national practice advising a growing portfolio of clients with key technical, and commercial, tax advice.”
Morton said: “I am excited to be joining RSM as we work to further support the automotive sector as it faces key changes in the industry with electric and hybrid powertrains, autonomous driving, Brexit and many other areas – presenting an equally exciting and challenging period.”

By GlobalDataThe new hire follows a number of recent appointments within RSM’s automotive practice including Robert De La Rue who joined as a tax partner from Jardine Motor Group in the summer.
Founded in 1988, RSM now has 3,500 partners and staff operating from 35 locations throughout the UK. For the year ending 31 March 2017, RSM generated revenues of £319m.
