UK car manufacturing in February was down 2.7% year on year, to 133,730, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufactures and Traders (SMMT).
Year to date, there were 266,507 vehicles recorded, which was down 1.4% compared to the same period in 2013.

SMMT chief executive Mike Hawkes commented "UK car manufacturing has been broadly stable over the first two months of 2014, dipping only marginally due to forecast product cycle changes."
Despite the slight decline in total numbers, cars built for export increased 3.5% to 102, 207 in February, and up 2.4% to 204,345, year-to-date.
The SMMT also estimated that the value of the average exported car grew over 70% between 2007 and 2013, to over £20,000.
The number of cars built for the home market shrank 20.8% year-on-year to 27,913 in February, meaning exports accounted for 79.1% of the market for the month.

By GlobalDataYear-to-date there were 54,294 cars built for the domestic market, down 14.3%, meaning exports accounted for 79.7% of cars built in the first two months of the year.
Hawkes added "The significant increase in the value of car exports in recent years reflects the changing profile of the models produced and underlines the sector’s economic importance.
"With the effects of recent investments still to be fully realised, industry looks forward to providing an even greater contribution to the UK economy in the future."
