In the medium term, the Swedish company said it expected 10% of its car sales to be electrified in the medium term.

The first stage of the plan will involve the introduction of plug-in hybrid versions of its 90 series and 60 series cars.

The newly electrified cars will form the ’40’ series, which will be based on newly-developed Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which was designed from the outset for electrification.

Volvo also said it planned to build an all-electric car for sale by 2019.
