Volvo’s forthcoming XC90 update has sold out its special edition launch model in just 47 hours, according to the company.
At the height of the sale, seven cars were being sold every minute with most cars sold within the first hour using only a digital commerce platform.

UK customers were able to secure 55 of the vehicles, due for launch next April, and will take delivery of a 225 bhp diesel engined vehicle with an 8 speed gearbox.
Alain Visser senior vice president of marketing, sales and customer service, said; "The first buyers signed up for their favourite number in milliseconds. The rapid response confirms that the XC90 is a truly iconic car model. The First Edition will be a collector’s item in the future."
The cars will be equipped with leather seats, a leather clad dashboard, touch screen sat-nav, 1,400 watt audio system and unique numbered kick plates and badge on the tailgate.
