1,600-vehicle fleet deal for
lessor

Vehicle lessor Lex has announced the signing of a multi-million
pound deal with Aviva, the UK’s largest insurance group, to provide
outsourced fleet services for Aviva’s 1,600 company car
drivers.

The cars have been provided on a three-year, 60,000-mile
contract basis, with Lex taking care of all driver contact on
Aviva’s behalf and providing the insurer’s fleet department with
access to real-time reporting, Lex said.

The lessor also announced that it has inked a breakdown and
windscreen deal with Aviva subsidiary RAC. Worth £75m and running
until 2013, RAC will provide , breakdown, recovery and windscreen
replacement for the 258,000 vehicles in the Lex fleet; Lex
estimated that over the six years of the contract term, the RAC
will receive 600,000 calls from Lex drivers and attend 360,000
breakdowns, while its subsidiary RAC AutoWindscreens will take
80,000 calls and fit 60,000 windscreens.

Lex’s managing director, Jon Walden said: “Our relationship with
RAC is now 16 years old and stronger than ever which is why we have
committed to them as a supplier for the next six years.”
