BCA’s latest Pulse Report has found a continued narrowing
in values between diesel and petrol vehicles and
reported average petrol values outperforming average
diesel values by 4.3 per cent for the second quarter of
2007, at an average of £7,319 against diesel cars at
£7,014.

However, according to car auction company, Manheim,
diesels are still more popular with the corporate sector and
used car markets compared to the private motorist’s new
car choice. Diesel variants now account for 46 per cent
of all fleet vehicles coming into the used car market
whereas in the new car market diesel comprised only 39
per cent of registrations for Q1 2007.
